Influence On Internet- Is it Good Or Bad?

Internet is widely used in today modern world. Internet has solved many problems that seemed impossible to be solved in a decade ago. For instance, through Internet, individuals are able to communicate faster with one another who are living in different demographic areas. This means that I do not have to wait to get the respond of my receiver in the long time when in fact there is Internet that can help me to transfer the information in a light speed. Furthermore Internet offers individuals with news, entertainment, and opinion. We can just found anything we want whenever we use Internet. Up till this sentence, we have seen many advantages of using Internet. However, what is the true influence of Internet on us! Is it good or bad?

Personally, I am strongly believe that Internet has harmful influences on us. When we use Internet, such as commenting on a particular issue, we are able to use anonymity to represent ourself. This means that we are not necessarily have to point out who we are. There will be less information about our identity. However, this means that, we will lack with some of self-confidence in the real world. What do I mean by this?

There are many reasons why people choose anonymity to represent themselves, but the obvious reason is because they are shy. When Internet gives them the chance to continue of using anonymity, they will not face the 'shy' issue. As a result, when opinions are needed in a meeting, they are unable to contribute as they are afraid of being known to others. Therefore, in this case, Internet has caused us to procrastinate to solve our problem and letting us to run away from solving this problem, which then affect our daily life.

Besides that, I believe that the use of Internet can lead to isolation. As we get used to use Internet in our life, we will spend most of our times with Internet. This in turn causes us to abandon face-to-face interaction where bonds and relationships with family and others can be enhanced.

In conclusion, i still strongly believe that Internet has giving us a bad influence to our lives. So what is your view?

Singapore- Collectivist Or Individualist????

Culture, culture is the word that we always hear or listen whenever we walk. So what is the definition of culture? Culture tells us who we are, what group we belongs to and how we live our lives. Culture is dynamic. Culture are different across the world, especially between the Chinese culture and Western culture. According to Harry Triandis (1976), the relative of emphasis of collectivism Vs individualism is one of the most important dimension of cultural differences in social behavior (social structure).

With the cosmopolitan city like Singapore, i believe that Singapore is a collectivist society with low individualism. People in the collectivist culture have a high interdependence with others and there are interpersonal sensitivity. The Harmony Day that is celebrated once a year and the low conflict between the ethinc groups show that Singapore is indeed a collectivist society. The citizens here consider the needs of the group to be more important than needs of individuals. They put the communities' interests on the top priority.

On the other hand, the individualist society has people that mainly focusing on their needs rather than the community. They have low dependency which is not shown in Singapore. As we know, Singapore people have highly dependent on other people.

In conclusion, i strongly feel that Singapore is a collectivist country where the people believe harmony is important rather than freedom of an individual( individualist). Singaporean are ready and open to be influenced by others.

The Relational Formation and Development of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart? Which factors contribute to this?

Recently, Robert Pattinson has confirmed that he and his co-star, Kristen Stewart are officially dating (http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474978068722&grpId=3659174697259616)
So how they have become a couple? What are the reasons behind the relational formation and development?

For me, i feel that the physical appearance as well as similarity play the dominance role in bonding these two people closer together. For most of all, the physical attractiveness that both parties explicit is the first aspect in the development of an association, such as, Robert Pattinson's handsome face as well as tall figure and Kristen Stewart sweet face as well as beauty. This causes them to form a relationship. Why?

This is because physical appearance have its biggest impact in the early stages of a relationship. Because of the external factor that they can see on each other and they find it is attractive, they will then step to start a relationship.

Besides physical appearance, similarity also plays the role in the construction of relationship.
Both of them have similar jobs which is an actress and an actor. This factor tend to bring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart together as it reduces the uncertainties about them. Furthermore, the social role that they took serves as a form of social validation since they have one thing in common- their job. They share a social activity together and because of the similiarity they have found on each other, they then form a relationship.

They are unlikely to start a relationship when they are complementaries- which means they are different from each other. In addition, i feel that they will not form relationships based on their perception of costs and rewards of the relationship- Exchange.

In conclusion even there are other factors that tend to form their relationship such as dissimilarities, exchange, proximity and others, i strongly feel that the physical appearance and the similarity that both parties have are the best factors that brought them to form a relationship. it is true that, many people form relationship based on the internal(emotional feelings) and external reasons. However, from the external factor, i strongly feel that physical appearance and similarities are the feature that bring a relationship together.

So what is your view about this matter?

"Action Speaks Louder Than Words"

This proverb has a great meaning to human's daily life. To get ideas and understand one another, we communicate. We can express our ideas with or without words(nonverbal communication).

Personally i feel that nonverbal communication plays a big role in our life. It helps us to find jobs as well as understand the message sent by other party deeply. For example, through nonverbal communication, we can examine the party's body and facial language. We can see whether he is sad or happy. In this case, we can find the underlying meaning of what the person says more accurately with our own eyes.

I believe that it is not good enough for us to just focus mainly at the sentences said by the party.Furthermore, verbal message tend to give us to have only one perception of thinking. We will not fully understand the meaning behind the verbal communication.

Due to the globalization, there are thousands of people that come form different background with the uniques cultures and languages. If we use verbal communication, there will be some 'conflict'. This is because the words that we think is appropriate might not be appropriate for others.

However, if we use nonverbal communication, we are 'kind' of safe. Through the facial expressions, we can present our ideas without being afraid of being insensitive to others. in this context, we respects others cultures and not to be rude.

According to the research done , 'Spoken language is only 7-15% of communication. Thus, with the respect to the proverb stated above,"(Action Speaks Louder Than Words") and the statistics, i strongly believe that nonverbal plays critical role in our life compare to verbal communication. However, it should be noted that nonverbal works together with verbal communication, They help to bring and define the message accurately.

The Perspective Of Communication

http://www.cwtv.com/shows/the-vampire-diaries
All about vampire!!!!!
the series is about the life of a girl that falls in love with two vampires brothers. She is involved in the triangle relationship.

Wait, before that how can many people know about this series?Well the answer is through communication.

Through communication, we interact and know things happening around us as well as getting the information that we want, for instance, vampire. So how we get a good communication?

There are few of perspective on how communication can be successful-Psychological perspective, social constructionist perspective as well as pragmatic perspective.

For me, i feel that the social constructionist perspective plays the most important role in helping us to have a better way of communication. I believe that most of what we know and the interest we have on particular thing, for instance, vampire world, is through communication rather than direct experience.

Furthermore, the reason of the popularity in the vampire series is because of our cognitive customs: the beliefs. People talk about vampire stuff in one way, and we also see it on that way. This is why communcation creates individual rather than individual creates communication(psychological perspective)..

So, what do you think of this view?
Do you agree or disagree with me?
